About
Franz Marc (1880 - 1916) was a German Expressionist and member of the ‘Blaue Reiter’ group for which he edited an almanac together with Wassily Kandinsky in 1912. Various custom algorithms were written to cycle through an almost infinite combination of randomised varieties on the original.
This process takes the original images further as a remix, as well as offering an ethically respectful human-computer tribute to the original, as well as a foil to AI-generated ‘thefts of style’. These hand-crafted web-based digital versions of Marc’s pieces are therefore intended to evoke the spirit of the Expressionist movement in a modern medium.
